* We acknowledge that accessibility is one of the obstacles that perpetuate systemic racism. Therefore, we utilize a sliding scale fee structure that meets students where they are financially. We ask all applications, which include the financial aid requests, to be submitted by March 12, 2025. Those with ample resources or access to resources are invited to pay at the higher end of the range to help support and sustain financially accessible training.

Join us for one of our two FREE Open Houses. Meet the trainers  ONLINE and learn more about the curriculum. Explore the importance of a program specifically designed to address systemic racism and lack of equity in the yoga community. There will be time to ask any questions that you may have.




The Yoga Immersion Program opens the door to personal transformation and spiritual fulfillment. This comprehensive is a 9-week course with 100% Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) teacher trainers and participants with an extended curriculum. The course will offer a chance to take your own practice to a deeper level, experience Yoga as a way of life and receive well-rounded Yoga studies founded in the teachings of Integral Yoga, a classical Yoga tradition. All levels of practice are welcome and some prior experience is required.

Curriculum offers in-depth learning of varied aspects of Yoga practice:

  • Yoga Asana - practice and theory based on Integral Yoga Level 1 sequence of an inward, spiritually-focused form of Hatha Yoga, a style of practice that is designed to lead practitioners to an experience of inner peace and greater awareness. There will be focus on developing a personalized Hatha practice.

  • Philosophy -  comprehensive Raja Yoga course exploring the Yogas Sutras of Patanjali based on Sri Swami Satchidananda’s book. The course will be concluded with a written review.

  • Pranayama and Meditation - offering guidance in a personal practice based on traditional yogic practices with discussion of benefits based on current scientific research and practitioners personal experience. 

  • Anatomy - including basic physiology of the body’s systems that helps understand the benefits of the practices and to make informed choices about what to include in our practice.

  • Introduction to various traditional yogic practices supporting a yogic lifestyle that Integral Yoga is well known for such as Jnana, Karma and Bhakti Yoga.

  • Extended curriculum including Yoga and Healing Generational/Racial Trauma, Appropriation of Yoga, Trauma Informed Yoga and more


The Integral Yoga Immersion Program provides a strong foundation from which one can choose to become a Yoga teacher. This is regarded as a Module 1 of our 2-Module format of  200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, Module 1 with 100% BIPOC teacher trainers and participants with extended curriculum and Module 2 for anyone who has taken Module 1 within the past 2 years or yoga teachers who want to certify as an Integral Yoga teacher.

Whether you decide to teach others or not, this program will help you expand your Yoga practice, take it off the mat and integrate it more fully into your daily life to sustain a sense of ease in the body and peace in the mind.  

Graduates of both Modules 1 & Module 2, are certified to teach Beginner Level Hatha Yoga and are qualified to register with Yoga Alliance as a RYT-200. You can choose to complete Module 2 within the next 2 years to fulfill the requirements for this certification.

All the materials shared online and the recordings of the lectures will be available throughout the training and for 3 months after the graduation.

Tuition includes free access to all Yoga classes offered at Integral Yoga Institute San Francisco and free access to IYTV, a large and ever-expanding library of recorded Integral Yoga Teachings and classes, throughout the duration of this training!

Yoga Immersion Program can be completed online, with an option for in-person attendance on Saturdays.  We are committed to providing a safe and high-quality program for all participants. 


Technological Requirements

Reliable Internet access is required to participate in this online training. You must be able to run Zoom on your computer or tablet, and have an active email account for delivery of course materials.

A $25 non-refundable application fee is applied towards the tuition. After your application has been accepted, you will be prompted to submit payment. Full payment is required one week before the start of the program, unless a prior payment plan has been arranged. If you cancel before the start of the program, you forfeit $175 of your deposit and the remaining balance will be refunded. When Taking Module 1 and Module 2 Together

Integral Yoga uses an inward, spiritually-focused form of Hatha Yoga to lead students to an experience of inner peace and greater awareness. To prepare teachers to lead students inward, our Yoga Teacher Training program offers a balance of theory and practice on a broad range of topics. Graduates of both modules are certified to teach Beginner Level Hatha Yoga and are qualified to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200. Get started by filling out the application form below.

Mia Velez

E-RYT 500, YACEP

Mia Velez, E-RYT 500, YACEP entered Integral Yoga Institute in 2016 through the kitchen as a volunteer cook at their silent retreats, teacher trainings, and the weekly community lunches. In 2018 she certified as an Integral Yoga teacher to learn more of the IYI approach and be part of the lineage. Mia is a disciple of the Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu lineage and is highly influenced by her martial arts training. After completing her first 200 hour teacher training in 2008, she began to see undeniable parallel in Yoga and Kung Fu. When she began teaching Kung Fu in 2014, she incorporated Yoga insight and principles in her classes. Her goal in teaching is to facilitate a safer space for self inquiry that hopefully leads to liberation. She shares her joy and knowledge of yoga as a co-trainer for the Basic Teacher Trainings at IYI to include the BIPOC Yoga Teacher Training; teaches the healing properties of yoga to incarcerated men; and provides stress management techniques with new parents. Yoga and Kung Fu are integrated into her daily life as a mother, a preschool teacher, and an advocate for gender, race and class equality through multiple non-profits groups.

Nathalie Rukmini Ando

Nathalie Rukmini Ando, is a Yoga teacher, trainer, and graphic designer, Brazilian of Japanese descent. She lived in Yogaville, VA, where she served as a Yoga teacher, program development director, leadership team member, online courses administrator, DE&I (Diversity Equity and Inclusion) Committee member, and Anti-Racism Task Force member. She has been practicing Yoga since 2004, teaching since 2010, and has been a Yoga teacher trainer since 2022. She is certified in Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Integral Yoga, Raja Yoga, Adaptive, Stress Management, Yoga of Recovery, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Basics of Ayurveda, and Neuroscience & Yoga. As a teacher, she's known for her clear instruction and her classes include fun, level-appropriate challenges. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and is a fine artist specializing in oil-on-canvas. You can see her artwork natiando.art.

Marc M. Morozumi

E-RYT 500, CMT

Marc is a certified Integral Yoga Hatha, Raja, meditation and stress management teacher with over 5000 teaching hours and a CMT in the state of California. His diverse career history, which has varied from a life in the arts to working in a high-paced event world, unifies in one voice today as a health and wellness entrepreneur. He is a Lead Trainer for Integral Yoga Institute (IYI) and Accessible Yoga's 200-hour Yoga teacher training programs and helped design the first BIPOC YTT with the SF IYI in 2021. He has staffed IYI's silent retreats since 2011 and teaches public, private and corporate Yoga classes every week. He opened M Spa Yoga, The Yoga Loft @ MX3 Fitness and in 2020, opened and turned all focus to Mukunda Studio - Yoga and well-being in SOMA, SF, CA.

Kamala Itzel Hayward

Kamala Itzel Hayward was a lawyer for over a decade before becoming a Yoga teacher and Yoga therapist specializing in trauma, addiction, and wellness. She is passionate about bringing Yoga and other healing modalities to adults facing chronic stress caused by living under oppression, such as racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, ableism, and more. She is founder of the Integral Yoga Institute’s Scholarship-Based Yoga Teacher Training for Black, Indigenous, People of Color. For the last 12 years, she has been sharing Yoga with individuals facing housing insecurity and related challenges, including systemic barriers; structural oppression; social dislocation; physical, emotional, and mental health challenges; substance abuse; and addiction. She sits on the Advisory Board for the Trauma Prevention and Recovery Certificate Program at the City College of San Francisco.
